At Doring Kappie, it all begins with our beautiful boars and sows. Each one of them is carefully chosen for their gentle temperament, strong genetics, and unique charm. Our breeding hedgehogs live in spacious, enriching enclosures filled with toys, tunnels, and cozy hides. They enjoy a calm and healthy environment, with plenty of love and attention every day.We believe that happy parents raise happy babies. That’s why our sows are given long resting periods between litters and are retired into loving homes when their breeding journey is complete.Each little face you see here plays a special role in the Doring Kappie story, the beginning of many “Klein Krimpie, Groot Sprokie” tales.

Donna is impossible to miss, not only because she’s much bigger than most hedgehogs, but because she carries such a warm, gentle energy with her. She’s a true sweetheart with a soft soul, the kind of hedgehog who would choose cuddles and blankets over adventure every single time.
Warmth is Donna’s greatest love in life. She carefully judges the weather before deciding whether the outdoors are worth it, and if there’s even the slightest chill in the air, she would much rather stay tucked away somewhere cozy and safe.
Heated blankets, warm laps, and soft beds are her idea of pure happiness. Despite her size, she has the gentlest nature, melting into the people she trusts and bringing a quiet sense of comfort wherever she goes. Donna has a way of making every moment feel softer and slower, reminding everyone around her that comfort is its own kind of magic.

He loves curling up on laps during quiet moments, exploring his surroundings at his own pace, and simply being near those he trusts.
Mochi teaches patience, trust, and the joy of quiet companionship, bringing calm and happiness wherever he goes.

Bernadette, The Fawn-Hearted Star of Doring Kappie.
Bernadette is one of the beautiful twin sisters, and with her rare fawn coloration she is truly something special. Her soft, cool-toned coat, deep black eyes, and delicate pink ears and nose give her an almost porcelain-like beauty, the kind that makes people stop and stare for a moment longer. She has a natural presence in front of the camera, always striking the sweetest little poses as if she knows exactly when she’s being admired.
Personality-wise, Bernadette has a bit of spark to her. She’s the braver of the two sisters, a little more curious and confident when it comes to new moments and gentle exploration. She loves attention, handles beautifully, and carries herself with a soft kind of confidence that makes her feel both elegant and full of character.
Even though she shares an incredibly close bond with her sister Gracie, Bernadette has her own space and her own little world, and she shines just as brightly in it.

Gizmo, The Legendary Gentleman
Gizmo is something truly special in the world of hedgehogs, a seasoned little gentleman with history, heart, and a personality that has left a lasting pawprint on the South African hedgehog community.
Originally the very first hedgehog of a fellow registered breeder, Gizmo has been part of SAHBA for a long time, carrying with him the legacy of experience and charm that only time can create. He is an absolute lover of the ladies, confident, social, and endlessly enthusiastic about companionship.
Gizmo has fathered more babies than he could ever possibly keep track of, a true testament to his strong genetics and undeniable charisma.
Yet beyond his reputation, he remains a calm, well-handled, and easygoing boy who takes everything in stride. Gizmo brings a sense of history and character wherever he goes, a reminder of how one little hedgehog can quietly become part of something much bigger.

Elton, The Golden Heartthrob
Elton is a cinnacot hedgehog with that unmistakable warm golden colouring, and an equally unmistakable personality. He is sweet, calm, and ridiculously easy to handle… but also carries himself like he fully knows he’s the main character.
He’s one of those hedgehogs who acts like every photo was planned specifically for him. If there’s a camera nearby, Elton suddenly remembers he has angles. He doesn’t rush anything in life, not movement, not handling, not attention. He just sort of… accepts admiration as his natural right. Despite his “star of the show” behaviour, he’s genuinely gentle and very lovable.
Everyone who meets him ends up saying the same thing: “I don’t know why I love him so much, but I do.”Named after the legendary Elton John, he definitely carries that same iconic presence, just in a much smaller, spikier format.
Elton is basically what happens when a hedgehog decides it’s famous… and honestly, no one argues with him about it.

The Completely Unbothered Snow Queen
Éowyn is a full reversed pinto hedgehog with a pure white coat, black eyes, and the softest little pink nose that looks like it was painted on for maximum cuteness. She’s the kind of hedgehog that makes you question whether she even understands stress exists as a concept.
She is, without competition, the tamest hedgehog in the entire group. Éowyn has zero fear settings installed. Nothing startles her, nothing alarms her, and honestly, nothing really gets a reaction at all, except maybe warmth and snacks.
On a sunny day, she will fully commit to the lifestyle of “retired beach holiday mode,” flopping out in the open, sometimes even upside down with her paws in the air, completely convinced she is both safe and untouchable (because she is). If hedgehogs could judge humans, she would be judging us for being too tense.
Éowyn doesn’t walk through life… she drifts through it like everything is a spa day she’s been personally invited to. Calm, soft, and slightly smug about it.

Ambrose, The Dark-Eyed Heartbreaker.
Ambrose is a striking hedgehog with a raccoon-eyed mutation that gives him an unmistakable “bad boy” look, the kind of face that makes you assume he’s trouble… in the best possible way. Handsome, intense, and effortlessly cool, he has that rare presence that makes people pause for a second longer than they meant to.
Named after the iconic character Ambrose Spellman, it honestly suits him a little too well. He has that same mysterious, slightly dramatic aura, like he knows things he refuses to explain.
At first glance, Ambrose can come across a bit grumpy, like he’s permanently unimpressed with the world. But the moment you actually handle him, the illusion falls apart completely. Underneath the “don’t talk to me” expression is a total marshmallow, soft, sweet, and surprisingly gentle.
He’s one of those hedgehogs who looks like he’d break your heart, but instead he just falls asleep in your hands and accidentally steals yours.

Novella, The Tiny Oracle of Doring Kappie
Novella is an albino hedgehog with bright red eyes that give her the unmistakable appearance of someone who has transcended normal hedgehog understanding. While the other hedgehogs are worrying about snacks and blankets, Novella seems busy receiving messages from dimensions unknown.
There is simply no convincing anyone that she is fully from this realm. The glowing red eyes, the dramatic way she hides her face in photos, the silent staring into corners for absolutely no reason, it all points to one conclusion: Novella definitely knows things she is not sharing with the rest of us.
Most photos of her involve her carefully covering her eyes, which honestly feels intentional. Looking directly into people’s souls all day probably gets exhausting. She gives the impression that she could reveal ancient knowledge at any moment, but chooses instead to curl into a blanket and silently judge everyone instead.
Even more mysterious is the fact that albino hedgehogs can genetically carry any colour underneath the albino gene, it simply masks their true colours completely. So technically, Novella could be hiding absolutely anything under all that white. Very on-brand for a tiny cryptid like her.

Meet Kimiko

Kimiko is the sweetest little girl with the funniest personality. The moment I walk into the room, she’s already out and about, curious to see what’s going on. She has absolutely no worries in the world and carries herself with the kind of confidence that makes her a joy to be around.
She’s also the biggest clown. Kimiko is constantly doing funny little things that make me laugh.
Whether she’s popping out at the perfect moment or flopping down in the most dramatic way, she somehow always manages to be entertaining.
One of my favourite things about her is how relaxed she is. She loves to sploot, sometimes even right in the middle of a vacuum session like the noise doesn’t bother her at all.
Kimiko is calm, silly, and completely comfortable being herself. She’s truly amazing.

Delfienja, The Little Cloud of Doring Kappie
Delfienja is a beautiful full reversed pinto with the classic personality everyone secretly hopes for, completely laid back, endlessly sweet, and not even slightly concerned about what’s happening around her. Life, according to Delfienja, is best enjoyed stretched out dramatically in the nearest comfortable spot while someone provides cuddles. She is incredibly tame and relaxed, the kind of hedgehog who will happily melt into your hands without a single worry in the world.
Visitors, noise, movement… none of it really matters to her. Delfienja has mastered the art of being completely unbothered. Just don't wake her mid her beauty sleep. Her favourite activity is stretching out as far as physically possible, usually in the middle of everything, as if she personally pays the rent there. Calm, affectionate, and unbelievably gentle, she has the kind of soft presence that instantly makes people feel peaceful around her.

Cooper is my little adventurer. With his warm apricot colouring, he looks like he belongs in the woods somewhere, exploring and figuring things out on his own.
He’s incredibly curious and absolutely loves new places. Whenever something in his world changes, Cooper is the first one to investigate. One of his favourite things to do is reorganise his entire enclosure, tunnels get moved, blankets get dragged around, and by the morning everything looks completely different from the night before.
There’s something very independent about him, but also very sweet. Cooper always seems like he’s on a tiny mission, exploring his world and making it his own.

Meet Monty aka Momo
Monty is an exceptionally handsome light brown high pinto hedgehog with the kind of soft gaze that makes you feel like you’ve accidentally walked into a slow-motion love story.
He doesn’t just look at you, he stares gently into your soul like he’s about to write you poetry about it.
There’s something undeniably romantic about him. The way he moves, the way he pauses, the way he just exists so calmly and beautifully, it all gives main-character-in-a-romance-novel energy. If hedgehogs could send love letters, Monty would already have a full mailbox. He is gentle, sweet, and quietly captivating, with a personality just as soft as his colouring. He doesn’t demand attention… he simply receives it, like it was always meant for him. And somehow, it always is.
Monty is, without question, the most romantic little hedgehog in Doring Kappie, and he absolutely knows it, even if he pretends he doesn’t.

Winston is a stunning light brown pinto hedgehog with the kind of handsome, thoughtful face that makes him look permanently busy with some secret invention no one else is intelligent enough to understand yet. You rarely catch him doing absolutely nothing, he always seems deeply occupied with Important Hedgehog Business.
He has a quieter nature and can be a little shy at first, often preferring to observe the world from the sidelines before deciding whether you’re worthy of his attention.
But once Winston knows and trusts you, his softer side appears almost instantly.
Underneath the mysterious inventor energy is an incredibly sweet little boy who loves gentle attention and calm companionship. There’s something effortlessly charming about him. Between his beautiful colouring, careful nature, and permanently thoughtful expression, Winston feels less like an ordinary hedgehog and more like the brilliant quiet character in a movie that everyone secretly has a crush on.
